Cancer Society, Eleuthera Branch was the first family island branch in 1985 under the umbrella of Cancer Society of the Bahamas, which was established in 1976. The Cancer Society Wellness Centre is the only Cancer Center on the island of Eleuthera. The Wellness Centre is managed by volunteers and provides support to all residents of Eleuthera. The maintenance of the building is based on the generosity of its volunteers and fundraising efforts.
We are still in the hurricane season the board is 100% females who find it difficult to batten up the building while preparing for a hurricane. Therefore, shutters were built and attached to the exterior walls to make it easier to secure the building prior to a hurricane.
On Saturday, October 10th, 2020 members of the Rotary Club of Eleuthera (RCE) under the supervision of Service and Community Chair Audley Meadows and Meadows Construction provided assistance with construction of new shutters and landscaping of the property.
